Project brief – Accelerating contraceptive uptake through post-pregnancy-care models in India

This document provides an understanding of the “Saksham” project implemented in selected geographies of Uttar Pradesh, designed to address the postabortion contraception needs of women and girls of reproductive age. The intervention deployed in the project employs a user-centric design (UCD) approach, involving community, chemists, helplines and community intermediaries to provide information and support to clients. The intervention enrolled 1200 chemists, reaching over 95,000 medical abortion kit buyers with crucial contraceptive information and linking them with a helpline for counselling and real time support.
