The National Consultation, ‘Prioritizing Comprehensive Abortion Care for Women within NHM’

The National Consultation, ‘Prioritizing Comprehensive Abortion Care for Women within NHM’, was convened by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare and Ipas India on 19 and 20 May, 2014 in New Delhi. The consultation brought together actors and advocates for women’s health and rights to deliberate on key aspects of comprehensive abortion care (CAC) within the National Health Mission (NHM) like training, service delivery, postabortion family planning and most importantly creating an enabling policy environment.

The report captures the recommendations from participants and includes an Action Plan of learnings and suggestions from the consultation.
