Vinoj Manning

Chief Executive Officer

Vinoj heads up a multi-disciplinary team of more than 150 staff based in 12 offices around the country. He oversees IDF’s efforts to improve the sexual and reproductive health ecosystem in the country. Vinoj, who has more than three decades of marketing and program management experience, is particularly interested in strengthening the capacity of health systems to provide high-quality abortion and contraceptive care and improving the evidence base for the provision of safe abortion care. Before coming to Ipas in 2002, Vinoj worked with a variety of organizations, including the Swiss Development Cooperation, PATH, and the National Dairy Development Board. He has a post-graduate diploma in rural management and an MBA Plus leadership certificate from the School of Business, Portland State University.

Sangeeta Batra

Chief Technical Officer - Health Systems

Sangeeta leads the Health Systems unit at IDF which focusses on capacity building of healthcare workers including strengthening of clinical and training skills of the providers. She has contributed towards creating a pool of master trainers for Comprehensive Abortion Care (CAC) training initiatives and a group of clinical mentors to support the service provision of trained providers. Sangeeta has played an important role in the development of the CAC training package, launched in 2014 by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India and continues to contribute towards development of new training documents. She has represented IDF and presented at various national and international fora. A gynecologist by qualification, Sangeeta has worked with various organizations in the field of public and reproductive health including Marie Stopes and PRIME/INTRAH.

Sushanta K. Banerjee

Chief Technical Officer - Research and Evaluation

Sushanta leads the Research and Evaluation team at IDF and is responsible for providing technical guidance and overseeing implementation of monitoring and evaluation efforts. He has led several large-scale surveys in India and worked with a variety of international organizations, including Population Services International (PSI), Futures Group International, Taylor Nelson Sofres India, and the International Institute for Population Sciences. Sushanta’s research and evaluation works on population ageing and reproductive health are widely published in peer reviewed journals and edited books including, Ageing & Society, Asia Pacific Population Journal, EPW, Encounter, Global Public Health, IPSHR, IJOG, and Studies in Family Planning. Prior to his association with Ipas, Sushanta was the technical director of Population Services International (PSI) India His areas of expertise include monitoring and evaluating programs; designing studies; and developing evidence-based behaviour change communication strategy in social marketing; and reproductive and child health. He holds a master’s degree and a doctoral degree in Demography. He also is a post-graduate in Economics with specialization in Econometrics.

Shenoy George Cherian

Senior Director - Programs

Shenoy heads the Comprehensive Abortion Care (CAC) and the Comprehensive Contraceptive Care (CCC) programs at IDF. Shenoy has close to 13 years of experience in social marketing and program management and has worked on varied health projects aimed at improving service delivery among public and private sector health facilities. Prior to joining IDF in 2013, Shenoy worked with Population Services International (PSI). He has a master’s degree in Social Work.

Anisha Aggarwal

Senior Director - Strategy and Development

In addition to leading the fundraising and external communications efforts, Anisha builds on her association of over a decade with Ipas and contributes to the overall strategy and management of the organization. Her focus areas also include documentation of programs and results; and support to policy initiatives. Anisha is keenly interested in improving health care for young people; integrating reproductive rights with human rights; and analyzing impact of projects for improved planning and leveraging. She holds a Post-Graduate Diploma in Human Rights Law from the National Law School, Bangalore; and a master’s degree in Linguistics from the Jawaharlal Nehru University.

Pooja Sethi

Senior Director - Finance & Administration

Pooja Sethi heads the Finance & Administration departments at IDF. She is a Chartered Accountant by profession and earned her accountancy degree from Institute of Chartered Accountants of India. Prior to joining IDF, she worked in both the nonprofit and the for- profit sectors. She previously served as finance controller in Public Health Foundation of India and Director Finance in Helpage India.

Dr. Chhaya Tiwari

Senior Director, Health Systems

Dr. Chhaya Tiwari is an Obstetrician-Gynecologist with over 15 years of clinical experience and 12+ years in the development sector, specializing in sexual and reproductive health and rights family planning, and comprehensive abortion care. As a core member of the Health Systems Unit at IDF, she has led the design and implementation of abortion and contraception programs across 10 states in India. A certified Master trainer for subdermal implants, Dr. Tiwari has conducted extensive trainings for private sector providers under FOGSI and contributed to national abortion guidelines and counseling resources on adolescent and reproductive health. Her work also includes youth engagement initiatives and strengthening pre-service education for ANMs and GNMs in multiple states through the establishment of functional skills labs. Prior to IDF, she worked with Jhpiego India on reproductive health systems strengthening. Dr. Tiwari holds an MBBS from MLB Medical College, a DGO from Kamla Nehru Memorial Hospital, and an MBA in Hospital Management.

Nadeem Akhtar Khan

Director, Programs

Nadeem Akhtar Khan leads the VIKALP project at IDF, driving efforts to increase use of reversible contraceptives among low-parity women in Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan. He also leads IDF’s technical assistance to the Government of Assam for introducing and scaling up subdermal implants and MPA-SC in the public sector. With over 20 years of experience in sexual and reproductive health, Nadeem has led national programs focused on family planning. This includes serving as the head of the National Technical Support Unit–Family Planning at the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW), Government of India, where he provided technical assistance in introducing new contraceptives into the National Family Planning program and in designing the Mission Parivar Vikas initiative to expand access to contraception in high-fertility districts. Nadeem was also part of the core team behind India’s FP2020 and FP2030 vision documents. He holds a postgraduate degree in Social Work with a specialization in Human Resource Management from Aligarh Muslim University.

Moumita Sarkar

Senior Regional Director - Programs

Moumita is a public health professional with over sixteen years of experience in maternal child health and nutrition, and sustainable livelihoods. At IDF, she manages operations in the region comprising of six states, with a focus on sexual and reproductive health programs. She possesses extensive experience in designing and undertaking monitoring and evaluation, and qualitative and quantitative research. Before joining IDF, Moumita worked as Program Manager, Maternal Child Health & Nutrition (MCH&N) at the India delegation office of Terre des Hommes, Lausanne, based in Kolkata. She has also worked with the Reliance Foundation; Institute for Reproductive Health, Lucknow; and the National Rural Health Mission – Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Rajasthan. Moumita holds a Masters in Social Work (MSW) from University of Delhi.

G.S. Gopal

Regional Director - Programs

Gopal has been working with IDF since 2014; he has over 15 years’ experience of implementing and managing multiple social project management programs with leading non-profit organizations, government agencies and the corporate sector. He holds a Master’s in Social Work, and a Post-Graduation Diploma in Personal Management and Industrial Relations.

Aarathi Ajay Thomas

Associate Director – Human Resources

Aarathi leads the HR function at IDF. She has over 15 years of experience in HR and L&D, managing the entire gamut of employee life cycle. Hands-on experience in designing & implementation of various HR policies and processes, connecting with leaders to understand business growth, culture and people challenges and devising creative solutions that are business impacting. Her focus areas are talent management and growth, learning strategies to boost organization capability, employee wellness and engagement. A large part of her experience has been in the development sector with organizations like ActionAid, J-Pal and Magic Bus India Foundation. Aarathi holds a Post Graduate Diploma in HR from All India Management Association.
