National Consultation – Advancing Comprehensive Abortion Care in India

National Consultation on Advancing Comprehensive Abortion Care, 2019 was organized by IDF in partnership with MoHFW, GoI, in New Delhi on 26th – 27th March, 2019. The consultation was chaired by Shri Manoj Jhalani, Additional Secretary & Mission Director (NHM) and Ms. Vandana Gurnani, Joint Secretary (RCH), Government of India. It brought together senior officials from MoHFW and various State Governments; donors; NGOs and development partners and other relevant stakeholders to develop a strategy on strengthening quality of CAC services to help increase women’s access to safe abortion care and post-abortion contraception services. In this event, the updated GoI Comprehensive Abortion Care Guidelines 2018 was also launched and disseminated to further improve the quality aspects of abortion care. The event was attended by 134 participants.

The report gives details of the sessions held and the recommendation from all the participants for taking the agenda of `Advancing CAC’ forward and proposed strategies for the same.
